Flexion-distraction tables support Cox-style technique — the axis of chiropractic care for disc involvement and stenosis where a direct thrust is not indicated. Ankle-lock the patient and work the caudal section through flexion, lateral flexion and circumduction to decompress the segment without a thrust. The Lloyd Galaxy McManis Hylo is a flexion-distraction table that tilts hydraulically from horizontal to 70° at infinitely adjustable speeds, controlled by foot pedals on either side. A safety switch prevents accidental lowering from the hylo position, and the footplate drops away flat when the table returns to horizontal. Flexion-distraction is manual and semi-automatic, with powered axial distraction and lateral bending. Standard features also include a deluxe adjustable headpiece, a one-piece adjustable chest with adjustable-tension spring breakaway, powered chest/pelvic separation and length extension, a lumbar extension cushion, an ankle rest adjustable vertically and horizontally, and ankle straps.
